The long history of Southwark's streets can be easily spotted on any stroll through Borough.
But you never can be sure how accurate the historic tales you've been told are, or how many places you've actually missed.
In answer to any history hunters' dreams, a new podtour has been launched of Shakespeare's Southwark.
The downloadable audio tours take visitors around Southwark, from London Bridge to Bankside, through Borough Market, and to taverns off Borough High Street.
As the tour continues, Jon Crampton tells stories of the theatre world of Shakespeare's day - as well as other tales - and points out places of interest.
The tour will take listeners back to theatres, but bear baiting rings, taverns, bathhouses and brothels.
Known as the seedier side of town, poets and playwrights rubbed shoulders with sailors and explorers.
The audio tour costs £5 can be downloaded from http://www.podtours.co.uk/Southwark-podtour.htm and used on any iPod or mp3 player.
