SOUTHWARK PLAYED its part in welcoming the Olympics to London as it held its own handover celebration on Sunday.
An Olympic Handover Flag was raised at Camberwell Green to mark the moment when London took over from Beijing as the official Olympic Games Host City. The ceremony took place simultaneously with other events up and down the country.
A giant screen broadcast the closing ceremony from Beijing, while workshops, athletic events and live music kept the crowd entertained all afternoon. Southwark says it plans to use the 2012 Olympics to make lasting improvements to the leisure and cultural infrastructure in the borough.

Well done to the SE5 Forum for Camberwell - without whom this brilliant event wouldn't have happened!
