GUILTY WILL BE PUNISHED

12 December 2008

ANOTHER GRIM week for Southwark, with two cases in court over the murders of local teenagers.

David Idowu, from Borough, was just fourteen when he was stabbed in the heart while playing football. He died in hospital three weeks later.

Lyle Tulloch, fifteen, from Peckham, was fatally stabbed in the chest and thigh at a party after an argument about a girlfriend.

The only tiny crum of comfort that these boys’ families can take is that, in both cases, our police force has shown that it will pursue killers - however young or old they might be - and there is a good likelihood that they will be caught and punished. The perpetrators for both murders were all convicted this week. This is the only way that the message will get to potential killers - think again or face years spent in jail.
