Lynn fighter Michael Shannon had to contend with more than fists last weekend, when he defeated an opponent who resorted to biting him in the middle of clinches.
Shannon, along with three other boxers from the Walworth club, qualified for London Clubs for Young People finals in what turned out to be another fine weekend for the Wells Way outfit.
Speaking to the 'News' trainer Samm Mullin said: "When they came together Michael got bitten, and you can see the mark on his chest. But the ref just said to get on with it."
The contest proved to be a humdinger of a bout with Shannon taking a visit to the canvas, but the Lynn man would not be defeated despite everything that was thrown at him.
Lerrone Richards will be joining his club colleague in the finals after overcoming his opponent in a more serene manner.
Trainer Mullins added: "He never had a glove laid on him and it was a really good display. All of the boxers stayed to watch each other even after they finished which to me shows a good spirit is building up in the club."
Two other fighters, Ryan Jackson and Chris Mbwakongo, will also take part in finals this weekend at York Hall, Bethnal Green with Jackson looking to add this title to the South East London title he secured last month.
