Fisher Athletic 2 - 2 Harrow Borough
Basingstoke Town 2 - 0 Fisher Athletic
Two battling displays in a week meant Fisher came within a cat's whisker of the semi-finals of London Senior Cup, and that relegation has been staved off for another week at least.
However, the respite could be temporary as a defeat this weekend will almost certainly confirm what has been known for a while - that Fish will be playing at a lower level next season.
But with the seemingly inevitable on their minds Fisher put in two top displays over the last week, and only missed out on a bit of cup glory on penalties.
Sebastian Schoburgh was the unfortunate 'villain' of the piece, sending the tenth spot kick over the bar but it would be harsh to single out any Fisher player who fought to the last to keep their hopes alive in the competition.
Goals from Wayne Grant and Pat O'Donnell, the second just five minutes before the 90 minutes ended, twice pegged back leads and despite Harrow missing a penalty in extra time they fought to the bitter end before the heartbreak of spot kicks.
Just two days after that exhausting night much of the same team pushed Basingstoke all the way, but on this occasion it was the Fish who were pegged back despite taking the lead on two occasions.
Grant scored his second in two games on the half hour, but the Black and Whites could only hang on five minutes before the home team equalised.
It was much of the same in the second period with Chris Saunders edging Fish in front, but the lead was even more short lived as just two minutes later the scores were levelled which turned out to be the final score.
The league table still looks bleak with eighteen points separating the Fish from safety, and if the results do not go their way at the weekend it will not be for the want of trying.
