Recently I saw a magazine article that asked, ‘Does losing weight make you happy’? Two experts were being polled - one said ‘yes’, the other ‘no’. The question got me thinking, has losing weight made me happy? I think it has. Let me explain.
In February this year I decided I wanted to do something about my weight. I was 36, 5’ 3” and around 12st 12lbs. I had been around that weight for ten years and no amount of dieting had shifted it. She put me at ease straight away and I was convinced I wanted to try it. I replaced my meals with Foodpacks, it is truly the easiest diet I have ever done. You actually never need to think about food or what you’ll cook. You simply have your Foodpacks and watch the weight drop off.
I had lots of energy and generally I just looked a lot healthier. But what keeps you going is the sheer speed that the weight comes off. I went from a size 16 to a 10 in about two and a half months.
LighterLife really has got it right, and it’s more than just the Foodpacks. The weekly group work means that you are around like-minded women, having fun whilst you learn about yourself and the techniques that will keep you on the straight and ‘narrow’!
After I reached my goal weight I followed Route to Management which reintroduces food back into your diet in a controlled way. Now, I pretty much eat what I want, but I don’t want to eat the type of food I did before and I’m controlling my weight very well. I did and still do exercise which keeps me feeling great, but it also helps ensure nothing gets too loose and saggy!
So back to the question, does losing weight make you happy? Buying whatever clothes I fancy makes me happy, especially when it’s a size 10. The compliments I receive, catching sight of myself in a mirror and not wincing, knowing that I’m not putting my health at such a risk makes me happy, and just the overall feeling good about myself makes me very happy indeed.
