Solitaire is a game played with a full deck of cards, or virtual cards in the case of online versions. The object of the game is to sort the cards into a specific order by first removing the aces from the dealt pack. Once an ace is removed from the layout further numbers can be removed from the layout, but this must be done in a specific order, starting with the two, and the suit must be the same.

Hearts is a game that is generally played by four players, although the online versions are normally for one player. The computer will take control of the other three players in most online versions of the game. The object of this game is to complete the game with the least points. 

Any hearts and the queen of spades provide the winner of each trick with extra points, so the actual object is to avoid these cards. Blackjack is another popular free online game and there are variants of this that again take the form of animals or other animation, adding to the visual effect for the player. 

The object of blackjack is to beat your opponents' hands (by getting the highest combination of cards). In the case of the online versions of the game, the computer will normally take the place of the opponent. The game is the most widely played and popular card game in casinos and is also extremely popular online; it is also the simplest card game to learn.

There are also versions of other free card games available on the Internet, and some of these include poker, snap and rummy. Variations of certain card games differ from country to country; for example in some countries solitaire can be played in a number of ways. 

The traditional version involves counting three cards at a time when picking cards, while other versions state that only one card at a time should be used. This version of the game clearly makes the game easier as the player has a larger choice of cards to place on the layout. Both versions are available when searching for free games to play on the Internet.
