THE DISTRAUGHT family of an 83-year-old great-granddad fear for his safety after he “vanished like a puff of smoke” from his home a week ago, taking only his slippers.

Sniffer dogs and police helicopters have been deployed in the hope of finding church-going family man Patrick Connelly, who has not been seen since he simply vanished last Thursday.
