Cops are hoping that graphic images of a 93-year-old who was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after he was mowed down in a hit and run accident will “prick the conscience of the people involved” and lead to further information.

The dramatic story of doctors trying to save Ernest Maloney’s life in the emergency department in King’s College Hospital was aired on Channel 4's 24 hours in A&E programme last night.
