4 July 2012
The newly opened Canada Water plaza is flanked by a lake that acts as a migration site for wild fowl on one side and a bus terminus that acts as a migration site for commuters on the other. This location has provided the inspiration for Bubble’s latest piece, The Great Outdoors.
A group of approximately 50 performers aged 6 to 70 something, from six different London Bubble theatre groups, has been working on what sort of Flocks or Swarms might be seen in that space. The groups have been developing ideas since April and in the process have created specific packs whose behaviour they associate with.
For example the teenagers have worked on Wolves – highly protective of the other members of the group, yet often displaying cunning and aggression – and they use that to influence their piece. One of the Bubble Adult drama groups will look at how social networking is creating online digital flocks, with people adopting pack-like social behaviours.
There are also picnicking ducks, commuting herons and a ponderation of penguins.
The performance is free and open to all to attend. It will begin at 7.30pm and run for approx 30 mins.
