A series of free concerts are being held at Forest Hill's Horniman Museum to commemorate the abolition of the slave trade, writes Siadhal Magos...
Bands, theatre companies and orchestras who have been inspired by the slave trade will be performing in the museum's Africa in the Americas series.
The Iroko Theatre Company kicks off the events with some west African music and dance on Sunday, September 9. The concerts will also include a performance by Chacon y su Timba, a Cuban band with heavy African influences.
