The ‘News’ asks you what you think of the day’s issues.
Interview by Alison Patel

ANDY AVARAAM, 35, RECEPTIONIST,
ELEPHANT AND CASTLE

What's your favourite place in Southwark?
Poppies and Castello's in Jamaica Road.

What do you most like about Southwark?
There are some lovely Victorian houses off Walworth Road, but new buildings that haven't got any character are hiding them.

Do you recycle?
Not really, we do get recycling bags from the council and we try to do our bit but it's hard. I think it's too late for recycling really.

Is ITV boss Michael Grade right to say the company has done nothing criminal over the phone scandal?
No, I think they've definitely ripped people off, so someone should get fired for it. My girlfriend and me have phoned those numbers and it's cost us money. Imagine if you phoned those numbers from a mobile!

Do you think the Diana inquest is a waste of money?
Yeah, I think the truth will never get out.
I feel sorry for her boys as well, having it all dragged up again.

Do you think youth crime is reaching crisis point?
Yeah, of course. It's ridiculous. It's so easy to get hold of guns these days - anyone can get one.
Do you think parents should be allowed to smoke in front of children?
It's your choice but I don't think you should expose your child to smoke. The kid doesn't have a choice. If you smoke you should do it outside.

Just 46.5% of pupils got 5 A-C grades in their GCSEs. Is this acceptable?
I don't think it's acceptable.  It's the teachers that should be looked at, not the children.
I think classes are far too big now too. The government is spending too much money on defence and not enough on education.
