FISHER'S ANGLE

29 October 2007

MARTIN EEDE'S VIEW

The last month has been a disappointing time at Fisher. Following on from our exit in the FA cup against Margate we had a terrific opportunity this week to move back up the table.

The game last Saturday and last night were two very winnable games and the net result was that we got no points out of them. If we had won both games we would have gone up to third in the league so we are all disappointed to get nothing out of them.

Last Saturday's game was a not a good display and to be fair that is unusual. On Tuesday night we played a lot better, we played some good football and took the lead in the second half. There was then a period of awful defending to let Hayes back into the game so all in all it's disappointing for everybody in the club.

This season Wayne has given a lot of young players a chance and over the next week or so we will see if they can respond to the disappointing last couple of weeks.

We have suffered hugely from injuries that have not been helpful but there are always players who are out of the side that think that they should be in it, so it is up to them to step up to the plate. We have also signed players such as Tom Pepper and Steveland Angus to help us out in defence where we have been hit particularly hard by injuries.

We face a tough game against Newport this Saturday, they are always a physical side and it will be difficult.
However if you look at the table it is bunched up and we are still only three points off the play-offs but what is clear is that we will have to do much  better than we have been doing if we are going to reach those places.
