SCHOOL KIDS HELP THAI ORPHANAGE

SCHOOL KIDS HELP THAI ORPHANAGE

27 November 2007

Pupils from a Camberwell school have spent their half term helping orphans in Thailand.

The pupils, from Sacred Heart, spent their holiday helping 180 orphans in Pattaya.

Parents, teachers and students, along with the local community, raised £25,000 to spend on essential equipment which would have been unaffordable for the orphanage. New computers were bought, along with air conditioning for the sick rooms.

Pupils also took out clothes for the orphans and provided enough money to buy each orphan a new outfit.

Sue Strode, of the Pattaya Orphanage Trust UK, said "The pupils from Sacred Heart School bonded with all the children that they met and many tears were shed when it was time to say goodbye."
