A NEW gallery is set to arrive on the established SE1 culture scene this March. In partnership with architectural illustrators AVR London, Anise Gallery will showcase contemporary art, photography and illustration by both emerging and established artists.

The gallery is housed in a renovated Anise and Coriander warehouse on the historic Shad Thames stretch next to the Design Museum. 

The centre of Anise Gallery's aesthetic is contemporary design through a mix of mediums including traditional painting, photography and architectural illustration both computer generated and traditional. Anise Gallery aims to cultivate and form lasting relationships with the artists it invites to exhibit as well as providing a distinctive urban space for pop up exhibitions and events.

The opening show, Masked, is a solo exhibition by rising South London artist Tess Greig. Greig experiments with varied representations of contemporary portraiture and the exploration of the female body.

She uses a mix of mediums including graphite, acrylic and Indian ink to help exaggerate her distinctive style on a larger scale. Her work has a strong reference to magazine, fashion and pop culture in her quest to represent the 'epitome' of female beauty.

She says of her work; 'My work portrays mainly the female face representing the innocent and beautiful vulnerability of her, but also power within a woman living today in this contemporary urban environment’.
