COOLTAN ARTS

Cooltan Arts operates a vibrant arts centre in Southwark's lively Walworth Road, near Elephant & Castle, from which we carry out:

- Arts workshops such as visual arts, Batik, digital arts, video, poetry, performing arts
- Exhibitions, public art projects and websites which help break down the stigma of mental distress
- Gallery/ performance space offering other local community projects somewhere to exhibit
- Volunteering Programmes, offering meaningful engagement and the opportunity to learn useful skills.

We aim to bring about a positive change in how participants feel about themselves, helping them to gain greater focus and to re-establish their relationship with society.

Cooltan currently provides services to 130 people a week as participants in courses and volunteers. They face an extensive and complex mix of mental health problems including personality disorder, bi-polar disorder, psychosis and schizophrenia. Cooltan's understanding and welcoming community can produce profound effects.
