The Recreation Ground, Camberwell’s new bar, is a relaxed venue with a dance area for salsa classes on a Thursday, or to party till 3am on a Friday and Saturday, writes Gemma Payne...
The Drinks
A high quality and large selection of wines for great value is what The Recreation Ground prides itself on. If you fancy something different ask Vedre the bartender for his latest cocktails or try The Camberwell Carrot at £6.50.
The Food
Try the sweet potato chips or crisps that are hand made by the chef. With the menu changing every few days there will always be a tasty surprise to try but you can always guarantee on the bar’s statement dish of Fabada Asturiana, a smoked pork belly, Spanish chorizo & pork loin, slow cooked with plum tomatoes, saffron, paprika, butter beans & rustic bread.
The Room
If you want a private party the intimate function room holds 80 upstairs, with its boutique feel of red lounge couches and big grand mirrors. The downstairs area is separated into trendy bar seating at the front and a funky dance space with vinyl on the walls at the back.
The Feel
During the day it’s quiet and relaxed, but most evenings there is always something going on. The Recreation Ground is a great place for groups, couples or even on your own!
