THE WOOLPACK sits amid the trendy bars and cafes that vie for attention along Bermondsey Street; it offers a respite for those who yearn for a traditional pub, without wanting to compromise on comfort or style.
Just a short walk from London Bridge station, it is a relaxing and friendly retreat for those who enjoy a drink without that shot of pretension.
THE DRINKS
The bar has an extensive range of draught beers including real ales, as well as the obligatory variety of high end continental lagers. The wine list is well selected and eclectic, with bottles starting at £12.50. The cocktail menu is short but sweet and there is also draught Pimms.
THE FOOD
The kitchen is open for lunch and supper Monday to Saturday and from 12-9 on Sunday.
It offers an excellent menu of gastro pub style food, without the requisite gastro style airs or prices. Sundays offers a selection of roasts. Vegetarian options are always available.
THE ROOM
The large downstairs room combines many of the pubs original features with some clever modern touches. It boasts an Edwardian tiled wall, as well as a contemporary walnut bar.
There is a large decked beer garden at the back, complete with enormous umbrella and heaters, making it smoker friendly throughout the year.
And, if you like your drinks with an occasional renaissance fresco, the spacious upstairs room boasts a rendition of Michelangelo's Last Judgement on the ceiling.
THE FEEL
Relaxed and laid back by day, bustling and busy by night, but always friendly The woolpack reaps the rewards of its traditional yet individual charm.
The upstairs room is available for functions and private booking on request.
The Co-Owner - Michael Peters
We intended to create a great pub, because there are too many cocktail bars. There are not many decent pubs that also have great food.
The Bar Manager - Oscar Perez
It's got a very relaxed atmosphere.
There's no attitude, it's not pretentious or trendy. It's just a delightful place.
The Regular - Ian Francis
I've been coming here for ten years; it's got a great atmosphere. The beer garden is probably its finest point.

I love it here! I've been for lunch a few times and for beers in the evening. They have got it so right with a perfect balance of a traditional cosy pub that still feels both modern and quirky without the attitude or cold bare interiors. Plus the fish and chips are top class!
