Dulwich Hamlet undertwelves bagged the club’s first trophy of the season last Sunday, beating local rivals Dulwich Devils to secure the London Youth FA Britannia Cup.

Goals from George Murphy and Tremayne Jules were enough to secure a 2-1 win for Hamlet, in a game which they largely dominated.

The run to the final has seen Hamlet score 42 goals in just seven games, and concede only three in the process.
Manager Paul Murphy feels these stats alone say a lot about his young side. He said: "It shows we are good at both ends of the pitch, and I can add that we are not too bad in the middle either."

Although the game was close on paper, Murphy, who manages and coaches the side along with Rob Edwards, felt the result flattered their opponents, but was delighted with the performance his team put in.

He added: "It was just an excellent team effort; they have got something about them and although they are a small side in stature they always give 100 per cent in effort and commitment. They are like little terriers."

Murphy and Edwards, who have looked after the current team since they were eight-years-old, hope that some of his team will eventually make the grade at Dulwich, and will step up to Ian Neal's youth team setup when they reach the necessary age bracket.

Neal's outfit have also has a successful season, and will take on Cray Wanderers on March 22 in the London Youth Cup. The under twelve outfit can now go concentrate on completing a league and cup double, as they currently sit fourth in the standings in their respective league, although they have a number of games in hand that could enable them to overtake their rivals.

Dulwich's next home game, on Tuesday March 17th, against Walton Casuals will be free entry. The game will be part of the Ryman League comic relief effort, and buckets will be passed around to get donations for the charity but no entrance fee will be charged at the gates.
