MAN ON TEEN SEX ASSAULT CHARGE

A 24-year-old Bermondsey man charged with the sexual assault of a thirteen-year-old had his bail extended while the prosecution prepare his case for the crown court.

Luke Evans, of Delaford Road, is charged with an attack in January this year, but a number of key witnesses are yet to be interviewed about the alleged incident. District Judge Shamoon Somjee told the prosecution: "You should be ready to commit this case to the crown today. But you have a week to get it done, or else."

Evans will reappear today, Thursday, April 23.
