THE EARLY bird gets the worm when it comes to Christmas shopping and the Ethical Christmas Emporium at the Oxo Tower will offer shoppers the chance to indulge themselves and their loved ones with ethical food and gifts away from the bustle of Oxford Street, writes Julia Shipperley.... 

From Thursday 20 to Sunday 23 November, 40 stalls of quality goods from Tate & Lyle, Cafédirect, Divine Chocolate, Palestinian olive oil specialists Zaytoun, RSPB, Shared Earth, World Music Network and more will be set over three floors in the Oxo Tower, situated on the trendy and high impact setting of the South Bank.

The whole experience will not just be about shopping though. Carols, food tasting, films, informative talks and more will foster the Christmas spirit.

A local Youth Club choir will get shoppers in the mood for Christmas by singing festivals carols alongside a choir in Ghana through a live link. Children will be greeted by 'Green Santa' and treated to children's activities.

The event coincides with London's bid to become the world's largest fair-trade city and the Fairtrade mark will feature throughout and guarantees a better deal for third world producers, so shoppers can be sure their purchases are ethical.

A VIP launch party takes place on Thursday 20 November from 6pm to 8pm and the event is open to the general public from 11am to 7pm Thursday 20 November to Sunday 23 November. Entry is £1 and children enter free.
