Waxing, plucking, shaving, epilating… ladies, we’ve endured it all. But a Spanish hair removal technique now on offer in Brixton could be a new pain free alternative, writes Emma Ailes...
It is known as No+Vello, and works by using short concentrated pulses of light that are attracted to the melanin in hair and then converted to heat.
Following in the footsteps of clinics in Rio de Janeiro, Madrid, Rome and Lisbon, the new Brixton clinic is already making waves.
And now for the science bit. It uses a “selective photothermolysis” technique, which means that surrounding tissue is not affected - the reason for its claim to be the least painful method of hair removal.
The wave length of the light is adaptable to suit any skin or hair colour and depth, as long as the hair is no less that a millimetre long.
The technique promises that in most cases, hair growth is reduced by a minimum of 80 - 85%, meaning that any hair that may reappear within a few years will grow more slowly and will be lighter and thinner.
Once the treatment is completed, some hair may reappear after 5 to 10 years. However, it will be weak and thin and may easily be removed in just one session.
And it’s not just for women. Men are being encouraged to get down for a free consultation. Each session then costs flat rate of £39 per body area per session.
