24 February 2011
An unemployed 21-year-old who was caught rolling a joint in the driver’s seat of a car outside his house was fined and disqualified from driving.
Moshood Adegbite, from Montpelier Road in Peckham, had the car’s stereo on and the window open, despite the rain, as he prepared to smoke the cannabis.
Police arrested and charged him on February 10. Adegbite pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of a Class B drug, but District Judge Stone said he had “previous for this sort of thing not very long ago.”
The judge fined him £200 for the offence and disqualified him from driving for six months, because the crime was committed in a car.
The court heard that Adegbite had no job, was not on benefits, and relied on friends and family for money.
