Oi, put that in your paper!

THOMAS STUBBS

THOMAS STUBBS, 59, DRIVER, BERMONDSEY

What do you like best about Southwark?
There are lots of different places. There's green spaces and there's the quays, and there's always lots going on. Other places have nothing. We have lots of parks and places good for walking and wandering about.

Where is your favourite place?
The riverside. I like to wander along the riverside and up the river. You can see the parks and you can see right across the other side to Canary Wharf.

What would you like to change about the borough?
That people born and bred here can get a home here. Now all these new apartments are built for others moving here for work.

What do you think about some people not getting paid for days off because of the snow?
It's not good. If people can't get to work, well its common sense, it's not their fault if they can't get into work. It seems pretty unfair to me. Some people did get into work and were sent home, that's not fair if they don't get paid.

A Spelling Society poll says more than half of us cannot spell correctly. How important is spelling?
Spelling is important if people are going to see what you've written, if someone's going to read it. Something could be taken in a way it wasn't intended. It's important for kids if they want to get a good job, otherwise they might end up in gangs and get into trouble.
