A new Bermondsey based firm is looking for young business talent in the area – with successful candidates getting training and potentially a full time job.

Journeys, which is being hailed as the fastest growing hostel franchise in the world, has a head office in Spa Road. They are opening their doors to local youngsters aged between sixteen and twenty, to pitch their ideas and talents to get work experience in the firm.

Best known for their franchise chain of youth hostels, with one located in a former pub in Manor Place off the Walworth Road, the company also boasts a portfolio of web design, travel website, finance and property sites, as well as manufacturing three-storey bunk beds which hostels buy from them.

Freddie Matthews, 25, from the Spa Road office, told the ‘News’: “We are looking for ambitious, talented students and sixth formers interested in media, online business and web development and are available to lead projects in their spare time.

“Training will be given on how to plan, design, market and procure new web based businesses and once roles have been appointed, an ongoing project management role within that business may be available.”

“The office is small, with about ten to twelve of us working here, but we are young and full of entrepreneurial ideas. We are always looking for a gap in the market and are buying up loads of web domain names as we source new ideas.

We are looking for the same enthusiasm from the youngsters and working at different times around school and colleges we could take anything from one to ten work experience placements on.”
