Bermondsey accountants Elan and Co are offering all Southwark Businesses a free half day introductory book-keeping course this month.
Ideally for people who have recently set up or are planning on setting up their own company, this is a beginner’s course designed in order to help businesses with book-keeping and introduces quickbooks. It will help you understand book-keeping requirements. It will also help you with the maintenance of your VAT records and preparation of payroll.
The seminar will be held in the meeting room at Elan and Co, off Bermondsey Street, 1 Royal Oak Yard on Wednesday, March 30. Refreshments will be served in the business lounge and the course runs between 9.15am-12.30pm. To register to attend, email info@elanandco.uk or call 020 7403 1500.
A business briefing explaining plans for next year’s Olympics for companies in the north of the borough is being held next Tuesday, March 29. The early morning briefing, at the BFI IMAX at Charlie Chaplin Walk in Waterloo, is taking place between 8.30am-10.30am.
Business Improvement Districts Team London Bridge and Better Bankside, alongside the South Bank Employers’ Group, has organised the event. Businesses have to register with these groups to attend. At the briefing you get to hear from Jon Foley (London 2012) about travel advice for businesses, Ken Kelling (The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games) about plans for the Torch Relay and receive an update from Kevin Austin (Greater London Authority) on City Operations’ plans for 2012.
The Employee Share Ownership Centre is hosting a one day workshop on employee share schemes for SMEs in the City later this year.
The event will take place on May 20 at Travers Smith's offices, 10 Snow Hill, London, EC1A 2AL, from 9:30am to 5:30pm. The workshop will gather politicians, academics, employers' organisations, civil servants, trade unions, employee share scheme experts, media, and SME representatives together to discuss aspects of employee share ownership, with a focus on increasing use among SMEs.
