STANSFELD MADE hard work of their victory against bottom of the table Sheerness East at Oxford Road.

On a heavy pitch Stansfeld playing up the slope got off to a dream start with a goal from their first attack in the 3rd minute, a slick passing movement between Terry Forsyth and Tony Saunders found Jamie Turner who finished from 15yards with a smart finish. With their tails up Stansfeld kept the pressure on and should have increased their lead on several occasions but a mixture of wasteful finishing and good goalkeeping kept the score line 1-0. 5minutes before half time and Sherness were back in the game, an error from keeper Ricky Ward allowed the Sherness centre forward to slot home from close range after spilling the ball.

Stansfeld started the second half in a determined mood and went back into the lead in the 50th minute. A strong run down the right from Ben Mulrooney found Harvey Gayle, who burst past two defenders before squaring the ball to Terry Forsyth, who fired past the keeper. Stansfeld kept knocking the ball around and were unlucky not to increase the lead in the 70th minute, a fine run and shot from Harry Draper was well saved by the Sheerness keeper. In the last five minutes Ricky Page went close to settling the game but his effort went the wrong side of the post with the keeper beaten.
