Oi, put that in your paper!

What do you like best about Southwark?
I think Southwark is the only good borough left in south London, Lewisham and all that are rubbish. I like the environment; I like being just by the river and seeing all the wild life, the squirrels the foxes, and all sorts. There are about five red tits in my garden at the moment.

What is your favourite place in Southwark?
I like a lot of the pubs - the Ancient Forresters, the Ship down Rotherhithe and the Boat Man, which is down that way as well. Also Southwark Park is lovely; it's a great place to go for a walk with the dog.

What would you like to change about the borough?
The buses - I hate the buses. It says every eight to twelve minutes on the timetable, but you end up waiting about half an hour and then four come along at once. Then they all go along in convey, they've got no brains.

A Government scientist has been sacked for saying that cannabis and LSD are less dangerous than cigarettes and alcohol. What are your views on legalising drugs and the taxation of alcohol?
The tax on alcohol is far too high anyway. I don't think there is anything wrong with cannabis; a bit of puff is fine, but anyone who does coke or heroin deserves to be sacked.

Tony Blair has been back in the news recently as he is being linked with the job of European Union President. Do you think he is the right man for the job?
I know Tony Blair; he's a friend of mine. I used to live up in Newcastle and we used to get the same night train up from London. I don't think it matters who the EU President is. We should take no notice of Europe anyway, nobody else enforces their rules.
