FOUR POINTS IN A GOOD WEEK FOR HAMLET

A stunning away win over title chasing Worthing saw the Hamlet return to some decent form, after a week of coming and goings at the club.

Three players, Billy Chattaway, Stanley Muguo and top scorer Laurent Hamici have left the Champion Hill side, but striker Charlie Taylor has returned to give the club a much needed boost.

Even without Taylor in the line up on Tuesday evening, due to other commitments, the Pink and Blues managed to pull off a morale boosting win.

The scoring instead was left to an unlikely source, when the muscle bound centre half Shayne Mangodza managed to get on the end of a loose Worthing clearance and hit a deflected shot passed a flat footed keeper.

The lead lasted until after the break, partly due to a fine goal line clearance from Marc Cumberbatch, but Hamlet could do nothing on 65 minutes, when striker Lee Farrell blasted a shot towards goal that keeper Jamie Lunan could only parry into the net. Not to be denied their three points Dulwich scored the decisive goal just five minutes later when Daniel Francis, again making a positive impact from the bench, made a strong darting run at the Worthing back line. When his initial shot was blocked, Scott Simpson was quickest to react and his lunge towards the ball saw it end up in the back of the Worthing net.

However, Dulwich couldn't breathe easy until the final whistle, and they were grateful for a brilliant save from Lunan, and subsequently the crossbar, before they could safely bag the points.

An away day draw was scant reward for Dulwich efforts last weekend, as they comprehensively outplayed their opponents, without ever getting the vital breakthrough.

Instead the return of Charlie Taylor up front, and a late but brief appearance from the long term injured John Paul Collier were the plus points that Hamlet could take away from the encounter.
Dulwich need to deal in wins at this moment in time, mostly due to their inconsistency in recent weeks, and as valiant as their efforts were it was still mightily disappointing to walk away with just one point.

Dulwich's next home game, on Tuesday March 17th, against Walton Casuals will be free entry. The game will be part of the Ryman League comic relief effort, and buckets will be passed around to get donations for the charity but no entrance fee will be charged at the gates.
