DAVID HAYE'S plans for global heavyweight domination were given a timely boost this week, when the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) ranked him as their number three challenger to champion Wladimir Klitschko, writes Gavriel Hollander...
The former cruiserweight World Champion, who vacated his titles to make the step up in weight, has stated that his aim is to take on two more top ten fighters before challenging Klitschko.
The champion has been dismissive of Haye's credentials. The Bermondsey fighter's only heavyweight bout so far was a first-round annihilation of Poland's Tomasz Bonin last year.
However, Haye is rated fifth by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and many ring experts believe he is the man who can take the giant Ukrainian's crown.
"There can be no more excuses or reasons why this fight cannot happen," said Haye.
"According to the organisations that matter, I am as deserving of a title shot as any other heavyweight out there. I knew that already, but now it's down there in writing.
"I have two top-five rankings as a heavyweight and have only boxed 105 seconds as a heavyweight. What does that tell you about the state of the heavyweight division?
"What does it say about the organisations' confidence in me dethroning Klitschko? They think I'm ready."
The 27-year-old will announce the identity of his next opponent early next month. The fight is scheduled to take place at the O2 Arena on November 15. A good win should see Haye take a big step towards his dream date with Klitschko.
"There are no other current heavyweight match-ups that have got people talking like this one," he said. "The division, and boxing as a whole, needs a heavyweight super-fight like this."
Ukrainian Alexander Dimitrenko and Alexander Povetkin of Russia are currently ranked one and two by the WBO.

HAYE would annihilate klitchko. klitchko likes to punch and run when he fights good fighters, sorry i meant to say mediocre fighters cos he's never been in the ring with a good fighter like david haye. Dave is gonna spring clean the heavyweight division and make it watchable again cos right now watching heavyweights makes my eyes bleed.
