Police are investigating an alleged child abduction attempt in broad daylight in Bermondsey yesterday (Thursday August 13).
A man reportedly attempted to ‘force’ a teenage girl into his car as she was walking along Rotherhithe New Road, in South Bermondsey, at around 5.30pm.
The girl was able to run away and the alleged snatch attempt was later reported to the authorities.
She was not physically injured, said Scotland Yard. Police did not give a description of the attacker or his vehicle at this stage.
Anyone with information about the alleged attempted abduction is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CAD5707/13 August.
Personal safety advice given by the authorities include planning routes in advance, sticking to busy well-lit routes and keeping valuables hidden and out of sight.
