A fifteen-year-old from Peckham has pleaded not guilty to the charge of murdering teenage rapper Leoandro Osemeke, also known as the rapper Showkey.
Mr Osemeke was sixteen years old on the evening on August 5, when he was pronounced dead by paramedics.
Met Police officers and the London Ambulance Service had been called to a house party in Colegrove Road in Peckham at about 7.15pm.
A post-mortem examination found that Mr Osemeke had been fatally wounded in his upper body, police confirmed.
Mr Osemeke’s alleged killer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
A trial is set to begin on January 23.
The boy was arrested on Sunday August 7, and made his first appearance in court on August 10.
Mr Osemeke was a celebrated rapper and performed and recorded under the name Showkey.
The youngster was a pupil at Addey and Stanhope School in New Cross, and had been awaiting his GCSE results shortly after his death.
He was also a close friend of the seventeen-year-old Lewisham teenager and fellow rapper, Myron Yarde, who was killed on April 3 in New Cross.
Colgrove Road is spelt with an ‘e’ – Colegrove Road and it’s actually in New Cross not Peckham.
Thank you, have noted the spelling, although it is in Peckham (Southwark) rather than in New Cross (Lewisham).
