Police have named the woman who was stabbed to death in the early hours of New Year’s Day at a property in Camberwell.
Officers believe the victim was Charlotte Huggins, 33, from Camberwell. Formal identification is yet to take place but her next-of-kin have been informed.
Police were called by paramedics to a house on John Ruskin Street at 4.20am yesterday to reports of the stabbing.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene at 4.50am.
A post-mortem conducted yesterday gave the cause of death as a single stab wound.
Officers also said they believe at this stage the suspect was known to the victim.
A man, 34, who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder was taken into custody at a south London police station. He has since been bailed to return at a date in mid-January said police.
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, led by Detective Inspector Domenica Catino, continue to investigate.
