The cyclist killed on Thursday after being struck by a lorry in Camberwell has been named as 32-year-old Esther Hartsilver, a physiotherapist who worked at the same hospital she was treated at.
She was hit as she cycled by the junction of Denmark Hill and Orpheus Street.
A spokesperson for King’s College Hospital hospital said: “We have lost a dear and respected colleague. The thoughts of everyone at King’s are with Esther’s family.”
The Met Police and London Ambulance Service attended the scene at around 8am and found the woman ‘in a critical condition.’
She was rushed by ambulance 100 yards down the road to King’s College Hospital, where she passed away that evening.
The driver of the lorry was stopped at the scene but no arrests have been made. Enquiries continue and police are appealing for information from witnesses. Contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Catford on 020 8285 1574.
Denmark Hill was closed in both directions between Camberwell Green and Coldharbour Lane. Bus services were also disrupted.
