A pedestrian has been killed in a collision on a major Peckham road this morning.
Police were called to the scene shortly before 6.30am to the collision on Kelly Avenue, at the junction with Peckham Road.
A male pedestrian, about whom police could give no further details, had been in a collision with a VW Golf. He was pronounced dead at the scene twenty minutes later.
Police arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing a roadside drug test.
He was taken to a south London police station, where he still remains. Officers are also trying to track down the victim’s next-of-kin.
Road closures and cordons are in place, and the authorities advise motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes where possible.

The latest death comes following a fatal collision on Peckham High Street earlier this month. The victim of that collision has been named locally as Jason Bent.
