Two alleged killers – one of them a 16-year-old – were due to go on trial today accused of murdering Joshua Boadu in Bermondsey.
Potential jurors were told yesterday Mr Boadu, 23 – known affectionately as ‘SJ’ – suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest, shoulder and arm.
Denilson Davis, 21, and the 16-year-old, who cannot be named, are accused of murdering Mr Boadu on Linsey Street shortly after 6pm on June 11 last year.
A panel of 14 – eight men and six women including two reserves – were told Davis accepts he was present at the scene but denies involvement, while the youth denies he was there.
Judge Mark Lucraft, QC, said the allegation was one of murder and Mr Boadu suffered injuries to his chest, left shoulder and right arm.
The judge also said the two suspects were part of a gang of three.
He asked the panel to go home and make sure there would be no issues with them sitting until the trial concludes on Friday, September 27.
The case was due to open today (Wednesday, September 3) once the twelve final jurors were selected and sworn.
Davis, of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, and the 16-year-old, deny murder.
