A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed in the Aylesbury Estate yesterday afternoon.
The 33-year-old was found by police in the communal hallway of Taplow House, Thurlow Street with a stab wound to the chest.
Residents reported huge numbers of officers at the scene, with access to the top floors of the block sealed off.
One resident said: “There were loads of police everywhere, riot police and everything. Loads of residents were watching.”
Later that day a 54-year-old man handed himself in to a south London police station. He has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.
A police spokesperson told the News that they believe the two men are known to each other and that the incident was not gang-related.
This is a breaking story. More as we get it.
