Lewisham Council has voted in favour of a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) of Millwall property around the Den, with six votes to one and one abstention.
The vote means a CPO will now be pursued by the council, which could take up to a year.
In the coming weeks a draft CPO will be put together and a notification will be sent out to all those affected.
The CPO will then be sent to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, currently Sajid Javid, along with any objections.
An Inspector will then be appointed by the Secretary to hold a public inquiry so all parties have their say – giving Millwall the chance to voice their concerns again.
A report will then be produced by the Inspector for the Secretary which will contain recommendations.
After considering the report, a decision to either confirm, modify or reject the CPO will be made by the Secretary.
