A climbing shop has been burgled on Tower Bridge Road just weeks after opening.
Cold Mountain Kit, a specialist climbing shop, was burgled on Friday night after opening on January 13.
Climber and co-owner, Alex Palmer, arrived at the shop on Saturday morning to find that thieves had broken a back window and had stolen much of their stock.
The estimated cost of the equipment taken is between £20,000 and £30,000.
The burglary happened on the same week that the newly opened store was having its security system installed.
Mr Palmer, said: “We didn’t have any security as it was due to be installed this week and we’ve lost all of our money because it wasn’t setup.
“It’s going to take us a long time to recover financially, but we’re not about to close because a couple of idiots have broken in.
“We love this area and we were based on the Rich Industrial Estate for a year and a half, we’re not going to move. We’re hoping to reopen soon, but obviously we’re going to have limited stock.”
The owners are appealing for anybody who sees any specialist climbing equipment for sale to get in touch with the police on 101.
