What do you like best about Southwark?

There are people from all over the world. You meet different people and cultures and they bring with them the food they eat. I wish people would mix a bit more. There's no point saying we're multicultural of you don't mix with your neighbour. I think its fear more than anything.

Where is your favourite place?
I like Peckham market on Rye Lane. The Library in the high street is good.

What would you like change about the borough?

I wish they would sort out the buildings. A lot of the buildings are falling apart. They invite criminals to move in.
They tore them down and built new ones in Mitcham, so they can do it here. They can't just rely on the police.

The former Head of MI5 has criticised the government for depriving people of civil liberties and turning Britain into a police state in the name of terror prevention, what do think of this?
I was listening to the radio and they were saying that it is now illegal to take a picture of Bucking ham Palace or a policeman. That's silly, a terrorist can get a picture of Buckingham Palace from the library, and everyone has camera phones now. I just think it's all a bit silly.

Pressure has mounted for banking bosses to have their bonuses stopped or certainly reduced. What are your views on the current economic climate?
It's a good thing. Before it was easy too get credit, a lot of people are in debt now.
The bosses have lost nothing, A lot of people have lost their businesses.

Last week we saw a 13-year-old boy be named Britain's youngest father. What do think of this?
The problem is that there are too many laws. It happens and you can't blame the parents. Unless you put a chain on your kids it’s nature, certain things you can't police.
