The eighteen-year-old man stabbed to death in Elephant and Castle’s Rockingham Estate on Sunday night has been named by police.
McCaulay Junior Urugbezi-Edwards was found injured on Tiverton Street on May 5 at 9.30pm and taken to hospital by air ambulance. Police said he had been chased there by a single attacker, from Newington Gardens, as he tried to escape.
He died in hospital from his injuries just over an hour later. His next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem will be held in due course.
The News understands he was from the Camberwell and Peckham area.
On Monday night, a vigil was held at the scene of his death, with flowers placed on the kerbside by friends.
The murder investigation is being led by DCI Richard Leonard, who said officers were following ‘active lines of enquiry’ based on CCTV and forensics.
He appealed for anyone with information, and any witnesses, to come forward: “McCaulay was chased from Newington Gardens, which is known as Gaol Park, into Tiverton Street where he was attacked and found shortly after by LAS medics.
“Did you see the chase or the attack? Please call and share what you know with my team straight away.”
