Police have released shocking footage of a traffic warden being attacked by an irate man near Southwark Underground Station.
The incident occurred at 2.45pm on July 5 in Hatfields and was recorded on the warden’s body-worn camera footage.
The assault took place after the warden wrote a ticket for a white car parked illegally near Southwark Underground Station.
The footage shows two men confronting the driver, one of whom said “you’re taking your job too ******* seriously, bruv” and swung at the warden.
Witnesses are heard in the background trying to calm the man, with one saying: “Hey, hey, hey, guys…”
The video then shows the man, identified by police as a passenger in the car, grabbing the warden’s “mobile data terminal” and kicking it across the road, damaging the screen.
The warden did not require medical attention.
The suspect is described as a tall, black man wearing a white t-shirt.
Anyone who can identify the man shown in the CCTV footage or who has information relating to the incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 185776 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
