A woman was fatally stabbed to death in a Camberwell property in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, Jnauary 1st.)
A man, aged 34, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at the scene of the stabbing on John Ruskin Street.
He is in custody in a south London police station, officers said.
Police were called to the property at around 4.20am by paramedics to reports of a stabbing at the property and found the woman, in her thirties, suffering stab injuries.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, she could not be saved and was pronounced dead at 4.50am.
Police said that her next-of-kin have not been informed and that formal identifcation is yet to take place.
A post-mortem will also be held in due course said investigating officers from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command.
Enquiries into the New Year’s Day stabbing continue, added police.
