17 April 2009
A Camberwell man who drives for his living has been banned from driving for a year, after being caught drink-driving near his home.
Victor Salazar-Escudero, 36, of Trevelyan House, John Ruskin Street, was handed a £260 fine as well as the twelve-month ban, after pleading guilty to the offence.
Salazar-Escudero was stopped by police on April 4 in Wyndham Road after spotting a broken rear brake light - but noticed that the driver had been drinking.
Having admitted to drinking four pints of lager and failing both a road-side breath test and a blood sample, Salazar-Escudero was charged.
The defendant refused the opportunity to lessen his ban by three months as he couldn't afford to take part in the drink drivers’ rehabilitation programme.
