You are here: Peckham \ Opinion \ Oi, put that in your paper! \ PETER WALSH

What do you like best about Southwark?
The people. They're friendly and genuine. That's why I requested this pub. People here are approachable and willing to stop and talk to you.
What is your favourite place in Southwark?
My pub!
What would you like to change about the borough?
More facilities for kids. I'm a father of five with one more on the way. It's quite hard with summer and half-term to find things for kids to do. We've got the free swimming tickets but they're hard to get hold of. There's also a Met Police youth club but that's only for a couple of weeks of the summer. When we were kids you could just go off and play, but it's not like that any more.
Will you be voting in the European elections?
No. I don't think it'll have any effect. We need to start thinking about closing our borders and looking after ourselves before we look at helping other places.
What's your biggest-selling drink?
John Smith's. When we run out there's a riot.
There's a government initiative to come up with new sports. What sport would you invent?
Something you couldn't print.
Now that you know what they can get on expenses, would you want to be an MP?
Yeah, it's the life of Riley standing there going "nay, nay." I'd like to see what they actually do and how many hours they actually work a week.
Wallabies are getting more popular as pets. Do you want one?
I've got enough kids, one more on the way, a dog, some cats, goldfish and tropical fish. I haven't got any room for a wallaby.
What do you think of Katie Price and Peter André's split?
I feel sorry for them.
