HAYE FIGHT NO BANKER AND COULD BE IN GERMANY

SPECULATION THAT David Haye's summer contest against Heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko is done and dusted has been denied by sources close to the Bermondsey fighter.

Vitali Klitschko, Wladimir's older brother, publicly stated that his sibling will take on Haye this summer but a spokesman for Hayemaker promotions told the 'News' that no deal was yet done although the fight between the two is '… the next natural contest.'

He added: "Both David and Adam (Booth, Haye's trainer) want to fight Wladimir and they want to fight David, but we are still a bit away from it being a done deal."

For the first time since a fight against either of the brothers has been considered, Vitali has now also mentioned that the contest could take place in England or Germany.

Until now, and even while the elder brother considered taking on the Bermondsey man, the talk was always of a stadium fight in England.

Stamford Bridge has been muted as a likely venue on June 20, but there appears to be details of deals at Chelsea and with both parties that need to be ironed out before that can be confirmed.

It appears that the Ukrainian's team are now considering an attempt to move the contest to their European Base, and if the maths are right in terms of terrestrial TV money they could push talks in that direction.

Despite the uncertainty the spokesman said: "There is a way to go yet but things are looking positive, but we did have a verbal agreement with Vitali and although both camps want this fight to happen we will have to wait and see for now."

Just before Christmas Vitali was putting himself forward to fight Haye, but a mandatory defence of his WBC title against Juan Carlos Gomez of Cuba finally blew those plans out of the water, after it was confirmed both fighters wanted to take the contest.

However by the New Year the younger brother was seen as the preferred target of the Haye camp. A mocked up picture in a Men's health magazine of Haye holding Wladimir's severed head is said to have angered the younger of the two brothers and made him determined to take the bout.

Wladimir currently holds three versions of the World title, and last thought in December against Hasim Rahman in Germany.

Between them the Klitschko's hold four versions of the Heavyweight title, the only one not in their hands is the WBA belt held by 7' Russian Nikolay Valuev who has also been touted as a possible opponent for Wladimir recently.
