Eight aspiring young footballers came home triumphant from a tour of Weymouth last week after beating teams from across England.
The under-eight team for Bruin Junior Football Club took part in the weekend tournament and where cheered on from the touchline by family and friends. The lads who hail from Borough, Rotherhithe, Walworth and the Old Kent Road play for the Mottingham based club, which is in the Selkent League.
They picked up the Weymouth Mitre Ultimatch Cup after first beating the runner away favourites of the weekend Bristol City 1-0. This team had not lost a game throughout the entire weekend but George Lalor headed home the winner in the first half and later keeper Harry Pinkney performed a superb penalty save to ensure the guys were in the final. They beat Nunnery Wood 2-1 to take home the cup. Despite being 1-0 down at half time Jamie Bennett game out and put them level and once again Rotherhithe lad George Lalor hammered home the winner in the dying moments.
