Dulwich Hamlet's youth side put in a stunning display last weekend, as they thumped rivals Thamesmead Town 5-1 to secure the London FA Sunday Amateur Cup.
Early season encounters between the two sides have been much tighter, but on the big day, big performances were pulled out that saw the Champion Hill youngsters stroll to a win.
The day was not without controversy, as three players were sent off in the ninety minutes, including Hamlet stopper Danny Baldwinson for two yellow cards.
Two opposition players were to follow him off before the final whistle, but by that point Dulwich were three goals to the good, as the east end side began to lose their discipline.
Despite the emphatic nature of the final score it was Thamesmead who took the lead when they were awarded a penalty against the run of play.
Not to be put off by this setback the equaliser soon came, when Regis Gnaly stepped up and dispatched a spot kick of his own, to cancel out Thamesmead's efforts.
Two goals by Ruen de Silva before the break ensured that Hamlet had a nice cushion that they never looked likely to relinquish.
Only a superb display of goalkeeping kept the score down, but the stopper could not prevent the inevitable goal, with just 20 minutes gone in the second half.
Sean Stevenson was next to get his name on the score sheet, when a stunning effort left the opposition ‘keeper with no chance.
Baldwinson got his marching orders soon after, for making contact with an opposition striker when advancing outside the area, but it made little difference, as before the final whistle two Thamesmead players followed the ‘keeper down the tunnel.
The final goal on an excellent afternoon went to substitute Hero Kanu, as Dulwich ruthlessly punished the indiscipline of their opponents.
