FRANK NAYLOR, 86, RETIRED, ROTHERHITHE
What is the best thing about living in Southwark?
It's nice in summer. I'm from Yorkshire, but I've lived down here for 20 years. The weather's stopping me from moving back up. The area is also quieter now than it was 20 years ago!
If you could change one thing about the borough, what would that be?
It's overpopulated now. If the police would be around to do their job, it would be a better place to live. Parents aren't parenting these days and kids are out late at night causing trouble and pinching cars. When I was a kid, all we did was pinch apples!
Where is your favourite place?
The Rotherhithe Library, although it would be better if the loud kids that are often in there weren't.
A report on the UN's drug policy is expected to recommend cannabis be sold on a 'regulated market', rather than completely prohibited. What do you think?
I've never done any drugs, but I think people should have the sense to decide for themselves. You can't tell people what to do, so it has to be up to them to decide whether they're silly enough to do it.
A man was recently killed when he tried to help a couple who were violently attacked in the street. Do you step in when you see people doing something wrong?
Once upon a time I definitely would, but not anymore. They carry knives now, don't they? Although I haven't seen any around here - but I'm sure they're around. It used to be so safe. When I was young, I could leave my bike at the bus station, go away for the weekend and it would still be there when I came back.
Commercial TV channels are now looking into showing ads and logos during programmes, before the ad break. Is that a good idea?
No - I turn the sound off when the ads go on. They're monotonous and terrible to listen to! TV's not good these days - most people I know haven't got one anymore. There should be more Frank Sinatra and Paul Newman on TV, or the old western movies. That said, it wasn't better when TV was just black and white.
