ALFIE'S EFFORT SECOND TO NUNN IN STANSFLED WIN

A spectacular overhead kick from Alfie Nunn set Stansfeld on the road to their latest victory, despite the team being short of four regular first team players.

The home team should already have been ahead before Nunn's intervention, but Danny McKone was denied by a fine save and ten minutes later Harry Drapers effort hit the woodwork.

When the goal came however it was worth the wait, Draper and Terry Forsyth were instrumental in setting up the goal and when the latter crossed into the penalty area Nunn got airbound and his effort nestled in the top corner of the net.

The second goal, although less spectacular, turned out to be just as critical thanks to the away side's second half goal, and the Stansfeld were grateful to sterling work from Jamie Bowes who scored it.

Paul Hewitt picked out Bowes near the penalty spot with his back to goal; however a smart turn and finish ensured the home sides lead was doubled as they went into the break.

The last fifteen minutes of the game were made to be more nervous than they needed, when a mix up between Ricky Ward and Sid Mitchell gifted Bearsted a goal.

But despite some late pressure skipper Neil Thurgood managed to marshal his team, and ensured the away side were kept at bay.
